Jessie and the Stallion part 4 part 3 part 2 part 1

Age: 11

It has been a month since I had that terrible dream. Oreo and Pandora are expecting their foals any day now! I woke up and got dressed. I was wearing my red T-shirt and black jeans with my brown riding boots. I went outside and groomed Peanut. It took me half an hour because he was caked in mud. But I tacked him up and rode him to Wild Flower Field. I dismounted and walked him to the pond when we got there. Then we ate apples and I fell asleep under the apple tree.

I woke up startled. I had the same nightmare again. I didn't know why but I wasn't prepared for what happened next. The same mares that I've been seeing the last few months where in the meadow, closer to Peanut. He noticed them this time. I stared in shock, my heart pounding in my chect so fast that it could've broken open my chest. I put my hands over my eyes and rubbed them. Then when I looked again I knew I wasn't dreaming.
"This can't be happening."
I whispered weakly.

I was crying. My T-shirt was now darker with my tears. I sniffled as Peanut swung his head around to look at me. His eyes were liquid and loving, but also with a pleading look. He walked over and nipped my hair. My nightmare was coming true. I slipped his halter off his head and kissed his nose. Then I took off his saddle and saddle blanket. "Be careful, boy," I whispered, "Don't ever get hurt. And I will always remember you."
He started to trot over to the mares and then turned around. His eyes said that he was sorry. I felt betrayed. I took him in as a weak stallion with no herd of his own. But I was filled with pride. I made him stronger and healthy. He was ready to take care of a herd now. I may never see him again. I could never groom or kiss his nose. Never pick flowers in his meadow as he tried to eat them. I could never feed him peanut butter again or enter him into shows. But somehow, I was okay with that. If he is happy, then I am happy. He turned back around and whinnied. The mares responded with snorts and Peanut herded them towards the mountain. I picked up his tack and watched them until they were only little dots on the horizon. Then I started on the long walk home.

"Jessie, what happened?"
Katie ran over to me. She looked at the tack I was holding and then realized Peanut wasn't there.
"What happened to Peanut?"
I dropped the tack and then sat on the bench outside of our barn. Katie sat beside me and I told her everything that happened between sniffles. She patted my back and said it would be okay.
"I have good news for you. The foals have been born!"
My heart skipped a beat. I was so happy.
"I saw them already and now they are sleeping. Your dad said he'll show you them first thing in the morning."
I nodded and then we talked about ways of training and the best breeds of horses. The sky was getting dark and Katie went home. I walked inside and went upstairs to my room. I brushed my teeth and combed my hair. I wore my bright red pajamas and sat on my bed. I looked at the pictures on my wall. Peanut's first show, the day he came, the picture I took yesterday, and so many more. I lied down and pull the covers around me. I would probably never see him again, but he will be my horse forever.

"Jessie! Don't you want to see the foals?"
I jumped out of bed and got dressed. I ran downstairs, taking the stairs 2 at a time.
"Breakfast?"
My mom asked as I ran into the kitchen.
"No thanks."
"Of course. You want to see the foals. They are in the main paddock. Your father is already out there."
I nodded and dashed out the door. I walked into the paddock and dad pointed at the foals. There they were, grazing beside their mothers. There were 2 fillys and 1 colt. The biggest filly was black and white, just like Oreo. The smaller one was a buckskin pinto, with her gleaming white coat and buckskin spots. Then my heart almost stopped when I looked at the colt. He was small, with a buckskin coat and black mane and tail.
"Peanut?"
He raised his head and walked over to me. I stroked his mane, dazed for a moment. Then he galloped off to play with the other foals.
"That was Pandora's foal. Looks just like Peanut."
"HIs name will be Peanut too."
I decided. I spent the whole afternoon watching the foals. Then I looked up at the bright stars. And I knew that somewhere Peanut was looking up at the stars too, thinking of me.

A Note From The Author:

This is the end of the Jessie and The Stallion stories. This story was not real and the characters are made-up. My next story is The Story Of AmberPelt Part 1. It is about a cat that I currently play as in my club SnowClan: Warrior Cats. I enjoy writing stories for horse lovers and Warriors books lovers. I will often write a story about my own Warriors fantasy then write about horses. I hope you enjoy my stories.
