Getting a letter in my mailbox at the Wiggins Weekly always makes me really happy!!! Your drawings are really really good. I showed them to my mom and she says that the ponies you draw have lots of horse spirit!

It is cold here in Wiggins now and everyone is getting ready for the holidays. Lulu is really happy her dad is coming home to visit. Anna is really spending a lot of time with her tutor, she is worried about our report cards coming out next week.

 

How is life where you are?  When do you get out for holiday vacation?

Hi Pam,

I have a pony just like Lighting. Her name is Amber. I go to pony club and on Thursday it is my first day having Amber at pony club. For Christmas I'm wishing for a cover for Amber. What do you want?  Give Lighting a hug for me and tell her I said hi.  your pony pal,

Thanks for your email. How great that you have a pony like Lightning. Amber is a fine name. I went out right after I got your letter and gave Lightning a big hug. She says “hi.” For the holidays Anna, Lulu and I are planning our caroling ride in two weeks. Wiggins is small enough that we can go to visit all our friends and still be back home before dark. Anna and my parents and Lulu's grandma are all pretty busy so they can't go out along with us after dark. Mom and I have been looking at new computers. But this year not as many kids have been able to take lessons on Daisy and Splash. I think money is tight everywhere. Please write again and tell me about you and Amber.

Dear Pam

Did ya'll have a good Thanksgiving? We did. How was your sleepover? Fat Cat sounds adorable. Did you name her after the evil cat in "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers"? Did your dad microchip Fat Cat? You didn't say weather or not your dad knows if there are any treats to help cats ages 7 and older gain weight. Spicey's been moody ever since she was kitten. One minute she'll act sweet the next minute she'll turn around and swat you. Before petting Spicey she likes it when you let her sniff you first. That's cool. We have an animal shelter too. It's called Pets Inc. We adopted Barney and Rachel from Pets Inc. That's also where we adopted Whiskers way before he died unexpectedly from an enlarged heart last year. Whiskers was only 7 when he died. We adopted Patches from the Pound. Could you please ask your dad what causes hearts to become enlarged? The vet's going to draw Cimmaron's blood and find out weather or not he has Cushing’s on Hanukkah. Luckily he's coming out to do Annie's teeth so we'll talk to him about it then. Glad ya'll got to visit the Quinn's. Oddly enough I have a cousin-in-law named Quinn. He's really nice.

Yes, Fat Cat has a microchip. My dad says he hopes that we don't end up finding it in a coyote! Fat Cat spends nights locked up in our grain room. No mice, no coyote raids. My dad said that weight gain in older cats is tricky. You can try some cooked egg yolk. Start with a little bit and see how it works. Way to go adopting from an animal shelter. St. Francis here in Wiggins is pretty good. Lately they have had to take in more pets than usual. Some people are having a hard time making ends meet. Pet food can be one expense too many. Anna, Lulu and I might make up a sign for downtown. It would ask shoppers to remember St. Francis shelter during the holiday season. The shelter accepts canned animal food and cash. Will you be with Cimmaron when the vet draws blood? Enlarged hearts can result from several different conditions. Take a look at

That link tells a lot about what causes this disease. Was Whiskers a Maine Coon Cat? Some cats of that breed inherit this problem. Let us know. Thanks for writing.

Wikipedia.com says: “Originally, jodhpurs (as worn in and around the city in India after which they are named) were tight-fitting only from the knee to the ankle and were flared above the knee; modern stretch-fabrics have allowed jodhpurs to be supportive and flexible.” For Thanksgiving my mom, dad and I had a turkey dinner mid day. Then Anna, Lulu and I managed to get in a short ride before dark. It gets dark real early now. It has snowed already here. What is riding like where you and Verena are? Is Verena in ClubPonyPals? Where are the Shetland Islands? Is that where Shetland ponies are from? Let me know.

Way cool that you might be able to ride Jack to Pony Club. Dogs who go for walks can be good company. They don't ask a lot of questions or criticize. Lightning is like that. If I am unhappy, I just go and hang out with Lightning and after a while, things seem better. Anna, Lulu and I are figuring out how many rides we can get in over Christmas holidays. Anna's mom is a little worried. Not so many people are eating at the Off Main Diner. She is offering Senior Specials at a great price. She said that she thought of that after we told her about our visit with the Quinns. She thinks are other seniors in Wiggins who will enjoy a dinner out. So, what are you doing for the holidays?

Anna, Lulu and I disagree all the time. We even stay grumpy for a while sometimes. But that passes. Usually there is something that one of us can say that will make the other understand something they did not. That's how it is with friends. They don't stay mad. We all have a common love of ponies and horses. And fun projects. What are you doing for the holidays? Anna, Lulu and I might make up a poster for the St. Francis Animal Shelter.

There isn't much to talk about this week. It's been very cold up here and we got some christmas decorations out. Rocky has been doing better. I think now my sisters sheep cough more than Rocky does. Yes, my sister has 2 sheep. Both of them are girls. The white one is named E.T and the Black and White sheep is named Midnight. Their stall is next to Rocky's. Rocky seems to Like Midnight. What did you do this week? Give Lightning a hug and a cookie for me. Ur number 1 fan,

Dear Pony Pal Gabby

Sheep? Gee. There are sheep in Wiggins. If you have read "Keep Out Pony" then you know about our adventures with sheep. Ponies can become good friends with sheep, goats, cats, pigs, chickens and some dogs. Glad to hear that Rocky is not coughing so much. It is scary when a pony or horse starts to get ill. My dad always goes out as fast as he can when he gets a horse or pony call. Even though horses and ponies are big, they are kind of delicate. This week was a busy one in school. We only have two weeks before holiday break starts. So there will be a couple of big tests. I am helping my mom as much as I can. Since Thanksgiving, she has not given as many lessons as last year. I think the economy is not so great here, like a lot of places. What are you and Rocky doing for the holidays?
