Part one

Chapter one.

Early in the morning, a mare struggled to give birth. Finally Sapphira, a bay Clydesdale, gave birth to a handsome bay Clydesdale colt.

As Sapphira licked the birth sack off of the colt he looked up at her and winked as she looked into his dark eyes she knew that his name should be Clyde.

Not so far-away a brutally beaten mare was struggling to for breathe her sides heaving as she also gave birth. The foal fell out of the mare, wet and not breathing. The mare faced the foal and furiously began licking the foals face and neck.

The foals sides began to rise and fall as she took in her first breath.  She looked up at her mother as her dam give her one last loving lick before the mare' head fell to the ground.

The little filly felt tears course down her face as she looked at the mare. Though this filly would never know her mother, she knew that she needed someone to guide her.

When she blinked and looked up a sweet looking light grey mare was standing in front of her.

Who are you? ' The filly asked.

I am the one who is the caretaker of all foals. Replied the mysterious mare.

But what is your name? The filly pressed

I am known as Bella was the calm reply.

Okay! Er, um .I don 't know you. I mean I have only been here for a little while,  Stuttered the foal.

Instead of speaking why don 't we give you a name? Asked Bella.

But I don't know you!' The filly insisted.

Trust me you do, you are Truffles!

Fine. I guess I need to trust someone!

You should trust your heart, but do not trust everyone.

 I know.
