The Unicorn of Magical Valley
By: jonah12 and Jonah age 11
One day on a beautiful August evening Makayla was in the barn reading with
her horse Jonah looking over her shoulder! Makayla had brown hair, brown
eyes, and braces. She would be going into the 6th grade next month. She
didn’t have a lot of friends. The only friends she had was Jonah and her
best friend Darien and her horse Browny. Jonah was a thoroughbred. He had
blue eyes and a stunning Black coat. He was beautiful! “Well isn’t that
interesting Jonah?” she asked him. “Unicorns live in forests, I never knew
that I thought they lived in clouds!” she exclaimed. “Wouldn’t it be cool if
we found a unicorn and brought him home? That’s it! Jonah get ready for some
searching. She ran to the tack room and got Jonah’s new Brown English
saddle, his new brown oiled bridle, and his orange saddle blanket. She
groomed and tacked up Jonah In less than five minutes! She led Jonah to the
mounting block and mounted. They raced along the meadows. Makayla did not
know where she and Jonah were going. It was about 9:00 at night already. She
did not know her way back. It was dark outside and she continued to look.
Then suddenly an pack of wolves emerged from the hill. They ran towards them
and smacked right into Jonah. Jonah reared up and landed on one of the
wolves and Makayla fell off. Jonah got spooked by the loud groan makayla
made when she landed and ran away. “No Jonah come back!” she yelled. The
wolves herd her and ran for her it jumped over her and scratched her. She
laid there with her eyes shut as the wolves ran for her and all of a sudden
the ground started to shake and she heard a loud whimper. She looked up and
saw the wolves were gone. Then she heard a soft grunt from behind her.
“Jonah is that you” she said as she looked behind herself. No it was Jonah.
It was something different. “Wow…..a….a….UNICORN!” she yelped with
excitement. The unicorn had a beautiful white coat that glistened in the
moon light. His mane was white and his hoves and horn were golden. He had
beautiful green eyes. The animal was amazing. She had a sugar cube in her
pocket. She held it out as the unicorn slowly walked up and took it from
her hand. Makayla pat his neck. Behind the unicorn she saw a forest. “So
that’s where you came from.” She said curiously. “That forest I think is
called Magical Valley that fits you well” Makayla started to walk……….and so
did the unicorn. “say, do you know where my Horse Jonah is?” she asked the
unicorn. The unicorn nodded. “Can you take me?” the unicorn nodded. He bent
down to let Makayla on. She slowly got on his back and said “Take me my
beauty” the unicorn galloped into Magical Valley. They stopped at the creek
and saw Jonah drinking some water. They came closer but Jonah got spooked
and ran again. Makayla and the unicorn galloped after him! But once again
Jonah was a thoroughbred and out ran them. Soon he was out of site and had
to quit for the night. The unicorn took Makayla to a small cave. Makayla got
off and went inside she laid there on the ground cuddling with the unicorn
and fell fast asleep. The next morning Makayla woke up and she ate one of
her egg sandwiches that she packed as the unicorn ate some grass. After
their breakfast Makayla got on the unicorn and started their search again.
The search lasted for days. Until finally one day they found Jonah he had
scratches. He was so tired makayla walked up to him and grabbed his reins.
“Unicorn can you take us home?” she asked the Unicorn nodded and took them
home they walked until Jonah could not walk any more. The unicorn saw the
Sadness in Jonahs eyes. Then with all of his might he used his power to make
all three of them have the greatest amount of energy. Jonah got up he had a
spark in his eye. He was back to normal. Soon enough they were out of
Magical Valley and back at the meadows! She knew her way home. She got off
Jonah and walked up to the unicorn. “Thanks” she said “for everything” the unicorn nickered. Makayla hid her face in the Unicorns mane. The Unicorn wrapped his head over her shoulder, and they hugged. A tear trickled down the Unicorns cheek. Makaylas Parents who had been looking for her weeks in horror were now watching with both tears of joy and tears of sadness. They have never seen such companion ship their
whole lives that an animal actually had cried was amazing. The unicorn and
Makayla stayed that way for a long time. “I will miss you dearly” she said
with her eyed filled with tears. “But you must go now…….to your home….. Good
bye My Beauty.” The unicorns tear left a stain on his cheek. He walked into
the forest. Then he turned around, reared up, and neighed the loudest most
heartwarming neigh anybody would ever hear. Then he galloped off into the
woods. Makayla, Jonah, and her parents walked home. To this day the unicorn
still has that tear stain and it never goes away!
