Pony Pal Poem for the Week

The Lady of the Dawn
By: Horsesforever12

My eyes wide open, staring beyond what I can see
Standing here waiting, ever so patiently
Hoping just to catch a glimpse
Of the Lady who tempts.
Her voice is calling, calling, calling
Like the drop of dew dropping
It is quieter than the breath of wind
But not to listen is a sin
If you do not try you will not hear
The melodious song she whispers so clear
Her voice is tempting,
Almost drenched with yearning
Can't you hear her calling, calling?
Slowly she climbs across the sky
She does not walk, she does not fly
Her feet are little rays of gold
They look so young, but are very old
All the while she is calling,
Taking her time but never stalling.
The velvet sky shrouds us all
In a blanket of night sent to enthrall
It sends us into a dreamy sleep
And there until morn us it will keep.
But I have awoken before I'm due
I'm not sly...or even shrew
I did not mean to offend the night
Yet to see the Lady is my plight.
Here she comes, beyond the Horizon
A creature born and bred from Zion,
Spreading her elegance
Across the Heavens
Shimmering through
The grass beset in dew;
Mirroring the icy ponds
And all the while singing her song.
Her gown is hemmed with pink
And beholds us all with a soft wink
Then the pink turns another hue
Of a dreamy, almost tired blue
He is very sleepy, yet somehow driven
To cross the great expanse of Heaven.
After he has voyaged to another place
Another lights the sky with grace
It is no longer the Lady's dress,
No, that has already taken its egress
This time it is something far lovelier
Yes, at last it is her!
Someone bold yet somehow shy
Someone who is glad and never cries
Someone who is joyful and coy
Someone who never kids or toys
A Lady with hair made of gold
That shimmers for every soul to behold
A lady so tall and so fair
The sky is proud to have room to share
She comes every morn just to see
Every human filled with glee
For now the shadowy night has gone
And here has come the Dawn. ~
