I may be a little old for Pony Pals, but hay who is too old for a good book~I love it every time i read them, thanks for the great books & website!
Laurie

Dear Pony Pal Laurie
You are only as old as you think you are. Don't you know some kids who act grown up -- and adults who act like kids? Everyone here really likes the Pony Pals books and think everyone needs to be able to have adventures, not matter how old they are. This site is for everyone who loves ponies, no matter what their age.

Letters to Pam

Dear Pam, I'm glad Snow White made it. Sometimes Mom will tell me which
one of her patients died, but she never tells me their name due to Patient Confidentiality and the Hippocratic Oath. One patient Mom kept on getting over and over again died this year. Mom and that patient became friends over the years. Thanks for letting me know how you and Anna meet. Will you please ask your dad if it's OK for cats to have broccoli? The reason I'm asking is because last week I read that broccoli can destroy tumors. If we'd give Spicey broccoli maybe she would have made it. The farrier said that the Coat and Joint Supplements we give Annie will help her stifle inwardly. What will
help her Stifle outwardly? Friends, Cayce

Dear Pony Pal Cayce
My dad laughed when you asked about broccoli and cats. Most cats only eat mice and cat food. Fat Cat mainly eats mice. But after my dad stopped laughing we went to look it up and some kinds of cat food have broccoli in it. Then we found this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQi3q-Nf9wA&eurl=http://littlecatdiaries.blogspot.com/2008/12/broccoli-secret-ingredient-in-all-good.html
And we watched a kitten devouring some broccoli. Some cats like it I guess.
My dad said that helping Annie's stifle would depend what is wrong with it. Can you find out what happened to Annie that made her stifle sore? Was she injured? Does she have arthritis? Write back and I can ask my dad.
Your friend,
Pam

Hi pam I just LOVE arabians, what is your fave horse? My fave color of horse is pure black.

P.S.What is your fave color of horse?

Fr. kiera

Dear Pony Pal Kiera,
It's hard for me to pick any one favorite. I love Lightning who is a Connemara pony. Mom's Thoroughbred JB is a wonderful horse. He is so big! Anna's Shetland pony Acorn is great too. I guess I like them all. What do you want to happen in 2009?
Friends,
Pam

Dear pam it's me  jessie how much did it cost to buy a friesian?

P.SI know it's a lot. Did you know there are less then 2000 friesians in north america!!!

Dear Pony Pal Jessie
Did you know there is a Friesian association of North America? Some horses can cost a lot. Not all Friesians are expensive. By no fault of their own, sometimes even horses that once were expensive are sold for not a lot of money. In those cases a veterinarian like my dad does what is called a "pre purchase vet exam" on a horse before someone buys it. That is to find out if there are any problems that people did not see. Are there any Friesians near you?
Pam

hi pam my name is jessica im from victoria B.C i lease a pony named princess and im really worried about her because she broke the fence and got out the people im leasing her of were working on their septic tank and she fell in to the hole and tore her tendon the vet wanted to put her down but karen wouldn't let him she wanted princess to have a chance to get better but i am worried because they don't have a barn and im worried she will get in infected because its really muddy what can i do to try to save her please help me :(

Dear Pony Pal Jessica
My dad and I are both so sorry to hear that Princess is injured.
Tendon injuries are serious but very common in horses, especially racehorses.  Often ponies and horses can recover if they are cared for well.
The first thing my dad asked was something you did not say — was Princess’ leg or body cut when she fell in the hole?  If so, the germs in that septic system would be dangerous to her in the short term. If there were any cuts on her legs or body they should be disinfected right away. Even if there were no big cuts, Princess needs to be watched closely for signs of infection like fever or redness or swelling.
This would be much easier to do if she was in a barn or a dry place where her injury could be kept clean.  Is there any chance Karen or your parents could help you find a place where Princess could be in a stall for a few days?
The veterinarian probably told you if Princess’ leg with the injury should be wrapped to help support the tendon. That wrapping helps to make the leg less sore and to support the healing.
My dad says the good news is that ponies can recover from very serious injuries if they get really good care.
Maybe Karen can help you care for Princess.
Please write back and let us know how Princess is doing.  We will think of her often and send healing thoughts her way.

Pam

Dear Pam,
My dog got her name well,  when she got her name It was already Echo.
Have a very merry Christmas!
Love ,
Annie

Dear Pony Pal Annie
Thank you for the holiday wishes. Why do you think your dog was named "Echo?" We named Woolie because he looked like a ball of wool when he got him. He is very furry. What does Echo look like?

Pam

dear pam
sorry i didn't right to you the last weeks....its the holidays hurry i donut really know what to say umm i cant wait till christmas i hope i get a horse haha WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR CHRISTMAS....what you up to?
from amy g

Dear Pony Pal Amy
Sometimes horses and ponies show up in someone's life when they are least expected. I asked for a new computer. I got my dad's laptop and he got a new notebook. He uses it a lot when he goes out on large animal calls. And that's how he keeps records in his small animal clinic.

Pam

Hi Pam,
I got everything I wanted for Cristmas. Fun Fun Fun. I got a new Cell Phone and I got new real jumps. no more pvc pipe for me and Rocky. I also got Dressage letters. I got soooo much stuff. I don't really want to brag about it though so thats all I'm gonna say about it. I had to go to a wedding on friday. I had to wear a dress and all that jazz. I hate wearing dresses. At least I have a new better dress. Me and my friend Mindy are going to be getting together a lot this week. We haven't gotten together since my birthday which was Nov. 7th. We are going to go see a movie. My mom says in the spring she owes Mindy riding lessons. So now when we get another pony me and Mindy can go riding together. Rocky has been shaking/shivering a lot lately. My mom thinks its because he's all alone and there has been some bad weather which has been making him nervous. I hope he can get a friend soon. I hope you had a very merry Christmas. What did you get? Give Lightning a hug and a cookie for me.
Your Number 1 fan,
Gabby

Dear Pony Pal Gabby
My mom says that sometimes Wooly reminds her of certain other dogs that have a mind of their own. Particularly when the twins are involved. I hope Rocky gets a new friend, too. Horses and ponies are herd animals. They get very, very worried when they can't see or smell other horses and ponies.
I went and asked my dad about Rocky shivering. Is Rocky cold? Ponies can shiver just like we do when they are cold. Maybe he needs a blanket.
For Christmas I got my dad's old laptop computer. The outside is scuffed and smells like his vet truck. But the inside keyboard and screen part are really clean. I like it a lot. I think of my dad when I use it. It is faster than my old one. The twins will get that one pretty soon. This week my mom promised to transfer all my files from my old one to my "new" laptop. I use a memory stick to do this. My dad calls this a "sneaker network." That means that I can record all my files and applications onto the stick, a few at a time, then walk over to my lap top, plug the stick into a port and load them in. I guess if it was summer, I would be wearing sneakers. If you and Mindy get to spend time together when your mom gives her lessons that sounds like fun.

acorn jumping

Dear Pony Pal Eunji
Here is a picture of me and Acorn jumping. It is cold with snow in the picture. Does it snow where you are? Right now here it seems like it will never stop snowing.
Your Pony Pal Friend,

Anna

Dear Anna,
Actually I didn't meet The Anna's at a school. I meet them at a camp and at a my Grandmothers house. I don't  think My friend  wars blue glasses. Have a very merry Christmas!
Love ,
Annie

Dear Pony Pal Annie
What a lot of Annas! Did the camp have ponies? Does your grandma like ponies? Lulu's does not. But she loves Lulu. So Snow White is Lulu's. Christmas was good. My mom served a big meal at the Off Main Diner. It did not cost much. It is cold here.
Pony Pals,
Anna

Dear Anna, I have always wanted a real horse before. I am at a cousins house and she never lets me ride any of her 10 horses!! She is really bossy and mean. I hope we settle it.
love
Kirby
ps I have a dog named socks and he is only two months old! How Cute!

Dear Pony Pal Kirby
Wow, what a cute name. Does your puppy have "socks?" Some people just don't share well. Rema didn't ride Snow White. But she said she still wanted her. Some bossy or mean people feel bad about themselves. Their sad feelings are one thing they do share. Being cheerful is a choice. I try, even when I am sad. Things seem to go better. Maybe if you stay cheerful, it will spread.
Pony Pals,
Anna

Hi anna sorry i haven't been on lately ya we get lots of snow right now we have like 15 centimeters and ya we have bears wolfs mountain lions and hot springs but you don't see the that often guess what i cantered princess for the first time and for an early Christmas present i got a whole bunch of pony pal books including pony pal cook book and the diary its soooo cool can you draw me a picture of the 6 pony pals i would love that :)
Jess

Dear Pony Pal Jess
What's a centimeter? Is that like an inch? We don't have wolves in Wiggins any more. Or mountain lions. They are gone now. The Mount Morris Ranger says there are some bears around here. We saw one once when we were camping. Jeanne Betancourt wrote about it in book #23. Which books did you get? Six Pony Pals? I know Lulu and Pam. But who are the other three?

Anna

dear anna
hello, merry christmas its holiday yay what do you want for christmas i hope i get a horse....what you up to?
from amy g

Dear Pony Pal Amy

We have ice and snow in Wiggins. Pam, Lulu and I went caroling before Christmas. Our ponies stood still while we sang. Neighbors came out and gave us hot cider. Our ponies got apple pieces. We decorated Acorn's shelter with cedar boughs. Snow White walked over. She nibbled at them. They must not taste good. Pam put some of her games up in Crandal's loft. When it is too icy or cold to ride we play there. Our ponies are underneath us. We can hear them. I like that. New Years is coming. Mrs. Crandal said we can have a sleepover in the barn loft. She says we can stay awake until midnight. Then it will be 2009!

Anna

What do you think is the most Important thing in drawing? My real name you can get from  Lulu or Pam. , Sunny

Dear Pony Pal Sunny
That is a hard question. Even when I was little I liked to draw. If you doodle a lot it is a good sign. That is good practice. My tutor says I need to read a lot. Then it will be easier for me. I think it is the same with drawing. Does your school have art classes? What kind of drawing do you like? Does your library have any books about how to start drawing? Draw a picture for me and I will draw one for you.

Anna

Letters to Lulu

Dear Lulu and Snow white,

I have sent letters to you, but haven’t really introduced myself. Well, now I will. Hi my name is Haley and I have a horse named Sugar. I’m glad to say I live somewhat close to you (Massachusetts), maybe someday I will meet you. Anyway, I have to tell you about Sugar. She is just like Snow white. (Only she is a quarter horse, and her coat is bay roan!) She will get nervous, and does spook sometimes! I wish you could meet her, I know you would love her! She has the smoothed (and pokiest) canter. Sometimes, I wish me and you switch ponies for a day. That would be some much fun! I have to go (ride) but give Snow White a big hug and kiss for me!

Haley + Sugar

Dear Haley
How great to have your own horse. Anna drew a pretty picture of Sugar. Pam rides Splash and Daisy sometimes. It is really cold here now. Where do you ride in the winter? Do you have any New Year resolutions? Pam's mom tells us that confidence goes up and down the reins. She says that to her students, too. Do you practice things like the "oh no whoa?" That's when you pull your horse's nose around toward your knee so it is hard to run away, buck or rear. I like quarter horses. Sugar's canter sounds wonderful. Pokey is OK. In Australia where I was born, my dad met a "Jackeroo" who had a good saying: "...it's easier to speed 'em up than slow 'em down." For sure I will hug Snow White. When I kiss her nose it is so soft.
Friends,
Lulu

dear lulu
hello,so what you up to,merry christmas its the holidays hurry  so what do you want for christmas i hope i get a horse hahahahahah....so what you up to?
from amy g

Dear Pony Pal Amy
It is real busy where you live? We have done a lot of stuff since my dad came home for Christmas. It was really late at night when he came here. But it was great to see him. He and I went hiking once and we had a picnic in the snow. Pam, Anna and I ride whenever we can. If the weather is too icy or snowing, we go up in the loft at Crandal's and play games. Pam has some of her favorite games up there. I am making New Year resolutions. Do you have those where you live?
Your friend,
Lulu

Dear Lulu,
I think I know how I got that ice, the same way you did.
Have a very merry Christmas!
Love,
Annie

Dear Annie
We had a great time over Christmas. Anna and Pam and I went caroling. I got a new sweater from Africa. It is really bright colors. I helped my grandma cook Christmas dinner. We made a dish with peanuts in it. My dad says they eat lots and lots of peanuts in Africa. My grandma promised to make a bergoo if my dad helps catch the fixings. Are you making any New Year resolution? How do you celebrate New Year?
Lulu

Hi, I think that in the story It would be oh say I live down the street and am very shy. You come over and ask me if I want to have a horse and I say so much I think I'm a uni. I would have updates every now and then. The story should be called uni in disguise, What number of book would it be. You know I can not say my full name could you send A picture of you and Snow White? Got to go,     Sunny

Dear Sunny
Thanks for suggesting a story line. Here is a picture of me with Snow White.
Lulu

lulu and snow white

Hi again, I can't open your site! Oh, what about Anna's tips? I`ll go and ask her about it right now. Which Pony Pal # am I? Can I be a tester? At first I thought the sandwich was free, but a tester fixed my thought. Sunny

Dear Sunny
I will send your note to the site Webmaster. We want it to be easy to use. You are Pony Pal 2620. I will ask the webmaster to put you on our testers list.

Picture It

The Story so far.... The Pony Pals had just completed freeing a herd of wild mustangs.  They were cleaning up the twine and string, putting it in their saddle bags when suddenly someone shouted "Stop!" They all turned and saw Lulu's father. Lulu was very angry with her Dad, she jumped on Snow White and galloped away. Summer, Meredith, Sunshine, Lulu’s Dad, Pam and Anna gave chase on their ponies and horses.

Lulu was going so fast she and Snow White didn’t see a deep ditch until it was too late. They fell into it!

While riding Lulu’s father explained to the other girls he was trying to study the mustangs, that was why the horses were tied.

Then they heard Snow White and Lulu crying for help.  The group carefully approached the ditch and Mr. Sanders and Eye-High got out a rope with a noose. The Pony Pals tied their horses and held onto Mr. Sanders' feet as the dropped the noose down towards Snow White.

Snow White got out safely, but horse thieves came and tried to steal all the other ponies and horses. Elie and Star stopped them and gave the ropes back to Lulu's dad.

Pam C. writes:

Down in the ditch Lulu waited patiently. She heard the commotion up above and wondered what was going on. Her feet were wet, it was getting dark and she began to wonder if her dad had forgotten her.

"Dad!" Lulu yelled. "I need a hand to get out of here!"

"Careful," said Mr. Sanders, "We still need to get Lulu out. Who wants to watch the ponies?"

Eli and Anna grabbed the ponies lead ropes while Mr. Sanders stretched out with the other girls holding his feet again. The bank was really slippery, sloping down towards the steep edge.

Mr. Sanders was lowering the rope down to Lulu when suddenly he started to slide! The girls grabbed his shoes but one came off and .....

Pony Pal Thoughts for the Day

I've never warmed up to someone that didn't want a walk down to the stables.

A clean stables and a sparkling pony are among life's great pleasures.

Even free ponies can be too expensive. Especially, free ponies.
