Summer Pasture part 1
By: LILAROCKS
Age: 10

It was Monday, the sun was shining and the horses were frisky. I had my pony Stanly all tacked up and ready, I just had to wait for the others to finish. I headed down to the Summer pasture and started ground work*. Then after that I tried to bridle him up, but he kept trying to escape his head from the bit, but I just kept being patient and I finally got it on, "Good boy Stanly!" I praised him and petted him on the cheek. Then I went over to the stump and jumped on, and we headed out to the summer pasture. The black berries where juicy and ripe, me and Stanly ate a few before going to the in-and-out jump and practiced a little before working on our canter.
"Oh, boy. Stanly's right lead is difficult for him to pick up. Let's try though."
I said to my self. So I asked him to trot, then when we got to the hill I asked for a canter and he got his right lead!
"Good boy! That was great!" I patted him and gave him another black berry. When I tried to get him to pick it up again he tossed his head and and started to gallop away, with me on him.........

*Ground work is also called circling up, it is like lunging only you use a halter and lead rope, and have your horse circle you, you can w-mail me if you have any questions :)
