A black thoroughbred foal pranced around the ring lifting its legs elegantly in time to the smooth classical music playing in the background of Kingly Auctions. This foal in particular was the son of Rightly King and Windy Music both amazing race horses of their time but not one of their foals had lived up to their winnings. This foal was the last hope for the Kinglys who owned both the sire and dam of the foal as well the auction. A week earlier they had lost their best stallion to a bet when Mr Kingly had betted that his best stallion’s first foal could beat his best stallion’s foal and Rightly King lost leaving Mr Kingly hoping that he could somehow get him back.
But so far the latest foal wasn’t up to Rightly King’s standard. You wouldn’t have even thought that the light and lightning fast stallion was related to the built up, stocky foal with a short bouncy stride that was cantering powerfully towards the black 3ft6 gate which was the exit to the arena. As quickly as anyone noticed the foal leaped elegantly over the gate with yards of space and then galloped slowly around to the other side of the pavilion. All of the spectators rushed outside to see if the foal could gallop fast but the foal was holding back and stopped lightly from a light canter next to its worried mother’s stall next to the pavilion.
Only one of the spectators was interested and he had been worried about his next decision ‘I must be mad’ he though and raised his paddle and shouted “25 thousand pounds for the Rightly King foal.”Nobody said anything, not even Mr Kingly or the auctioneer everyone just stared with surprised expressions.
“The Rightly King foal going for 25 thousand pounds: going, going, gone for 25 thousand pounds,” said the auctioneer nervously.
A short young man hurried over to the foal and haltered it quickly but the foal wasn’t having any of it. The foal started broncoing all over the yard and once it had pulled free of the foal harness it galloped wildly back to its mother. All the grooms lined up metal fencing then drove the foal towards the horse trailer; the foal cantered towards the horse trailer before jumping into the back thinking it was a place to hide. The grooms shut the back doors of the horse trailer and the foal stopped messing around he knew this scene well all his brothers and sisters had hone this way. They would go into a horse trailer then never come back but apparently it takes you to a lush green paddock with forever lasting grass and double love and hugs from all your riders.
But he had no idea that all his brothers had gone to homes with little girls and fully grown loving ladies. He was going to a show jumping yard and this year would be his hardest. His brothers and sisters had the talent that he had but he had the most luck. Years later this horse would become a household name: SkyKing...
