It was morning. I woke up and put my bath robe on and ran down stairs. pushed the ON button on the remote control and guess what caught my eye? Horse jumping competitions! I didn’t waste any time. I ran downstairs to the basement.
I asked excitedly “Mom, Dad, can I get a horse and ride it in the horse jumping show?.”
“WOE! Slow down” her dad said. First we are not getting a horse but I can have you take lessons. I looked sad but a smile popped through.
Well, OK, I said.
That night I read 6 books about horses. Then I dozed off. I asked every day and the answer was…NO. The next morning after 6 weeks passed Dad came in with a smile.
What? I asked.
"I got you a horse."
I hugged him before I ran outside. I saw a beautiful black stallion grazing inside a fence. I got the green lead rope and caught the black stallion. I tightened the girth.
“Ready” I asked him?
I forgot what I should name him. Apple, because he likes apples. We practiced jumping all week. We even jumped the Oxer. The day came. I rode Apple and on the way I saw Lucy. “Hi”!. She said you won’t win on her. She galloped off. Him, I corrected. Then the speaker said “Holly Key”. I rode and jumped. I won! I go to the big race.
Find out next month what happens when Holly goes to the big race.
