Penelope's Horse

“Ahhh!” Penelope yelled as she was pushed out of her bed to the roof and then off of the three-story house. She clenched her eyes shut as she was about to hit the ground a black mare galloped under her and saved her life. She named him Midnight because that was the first time she met him. As she rode, she straightened up and she saw an amazing sight she was in a pasture at full speed. She came out every day to ride her new horse. She fed him, groomed him, and rode him every second she could sneak away from her chores. She even slept with him in the stalls. Her mom usually didn’t talk to her because she was so busy trying to earn money but it kept getting spent on the horse. But one morning she woke up and midnight was gone she went outside and saw a trailer with horse slaughter house on the back of it. She went inside and found her mom eating breakfast like normal.
“Mom why is midnight in the back of that truck!” She yelled.
“Well honey you know we are poor and can’t afford to keep feeding Midnight every day.”
“I know you would have sold her and I knew you would but not to a slaughter house!”
“A slaughter house! He said he owned a barn and no horses so I thought he was a loving owner.”
