Thump...
Thump.....
Thump...
Thump....
Katie could not see anything except black darkness spreading all around her. She could hear horses' hooves beating on the sandy ground. But then, all of a sudden the noises blended into the dark sight. There were no more sounds.
"Ugh..." Katie groaned unhappily. She had dreamt about the horrible accident that had broken her arm five days ago. As she got out of her bed, she looked at the photos on the wall. There was Lemonade Angel, her horse that tripped over, breaking Katie's arm. Katie could not contain herself as she started to cry. Fat watery teardrops slid down her cheeks and dropped onto the floor. Lemonade Angel had to be put down, because when she tripped, Lemonade Angel had broken her cannon bone.
"Katie!" Katie’s mum, Sally, called. "Coming!" Katie called back.
Katie wiped her eyes and rushed down the stairs.
In the kitchen, Mum had already made breakfast. "Ya better be quick, Katie! Before your brekky turns into worm-like-blobs!" Her Brother, Matthew, teased.
"I hope they don’t form into worms though!" She teased back.
"Have a good sleep, hon?" Her mother asked kindly.
"Yep" She replied through mouthfuls of cereal.
"Where is Da-" Katie was cut off by Matthew.
"He's waiting outside on the fence. He's waiting for the new horses." Her brother replied
"New HORSES!?" Katie asked very loudly.
"That’s what said" Her brother said
"oh! I can't wait to see them!" Katie screeched excitedly.
" Let's go, then." Matthew said.
"After you've eaten your breakfast," He added.
After Breakfast, Katie and Matthew went outside to find their Dad, Scott, on one of the fences.
"Hi dad!" Katie and Matthew said together.
"Hello, Matthew. Hello, Katie. Did Sally say you could go out?" Dad asked.
"No, why? We usually can go out whenever we please," Matthew questioned back
“Well, as you both know, Katie has a broken arm.” He answered strictly
“So, for your safety, Katie, I would like you to ask me or Sally whenever you would like to go outside.” He finished.
“What!? There’s no way you can do that! It’s like taking away my freedom!” Cried Katie.
“Well, Katie, that’s the way Sally and I will keep it until your arm has healed,” He said crossly.
“Now, the horses are coming. And both of you can go back to the house!” He said as he watched a large silver trailer driving along the dusty road.
As they went inside the house, Katie sat down on their old black leather couch and started reading the book that she spent all her allowance on. It was called Dreams of Warriors. Just as she got up to page 82, Mum called her “Katie! Its ten o’clock! Time for bed!” Her mother called. With a sigh, she put down the book and went upstairs lazily.
As she drifted into sleep, she felt cold. Terribly cold. Katie’s feet felt like frozen water. As Katie looked at herself, she was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. What horrible dream could even make me feel the cold?! She thought bitterly as she walked through the freezing snow. After a while, which seemed like years, Katie saw a magnificent white stallion at the far corner of the snowy field. He had a fascinating shad of baby blue. As she stared, he swiftly galloped towards her. For a strange reason, Katie wasn’t scared at all. Just fascinated.
As the stallion reached her, he skidded to a sharp halt and reared. Katie stood still.
The stallions hooves landed with a thud.
"Hey there, boy..." Katie murmured quietly to him.
"Mind If I ride you?" Katie whispered as she pulled herself up on his back.
"Good boy."
Katie slowly grabbed hold of his mane.
"Welcome to your mind" A dark, gloomy voice welcomed.
"W-w-who are y-you?!" Katie cried out loudly, trying to hide her fear.
" I am Blue Diamond." The words again, came to her through her mind.
"And I, need your help."
