Even I Didn’t Guess It by Iloveexracehorses24 & riley  age 12

This is not a true story =D

"Come on Alexis get it together"! It was a normal day here at River Valley Stables. Once again Lisa, our riding instructor was giving me a hard time. I always try my best but it seems that I’m always doing something wrong. After lessons I brought Dawn, the stables palomino Quarter Horse mare, into her stall and closed it. I walked down the aisle and patted each horse on the nose.

I put all of her tack away, then came back to her stall to say one final farewell. You read all these stories where all the horse lover girls get there own pony or horse after two lessons, because their parents wanted them happy. Not me. I’ve loved horses since age three when I saw a documentary about them (to me just some pretty pictures). No one in my family knew a thing about horses, but at age 7 I started riding lessons. My dream came true.

On my first lesson I met my dream pony, Buttercup. She was so sweet and it looked like we were tailor made for eachother in the arena. I knew my parents would buy her. My birthday rolled along. I came downstairs hoping for little Buttercup as my own, but no such luck. Two years past and I started to ride Dawn. I never felt quite right on her back. Of course i loved her, but it wwasn’ther I wanted. I wanted my OWN horse. Next birthday, age 12, no luck again for the 5th year in a row. I knew it…no luck.

I am 15 now. I always thought this story would end unhappy. But once my parents knew for sure that I could have both, horses and my grades and social life, they bought me my very own horse. It was Christmas Eve and I walked down the stairs expecting nothing again. (I kind of gave up by then) It was a joy to see my little sisters face filled with wonder as she looked at all her gifts. I looked where mine were supposed to be, but there was just one little package. Figures, im 15! Who needs presents! That is what my parents were thinking. I sat on the ground and watched my little sister. Timidly I opened the little package. I saw a picture and a letter.
I looked at the picture to see a coal black horse gleaming in the sun. My heart raced. Is this it?! Is he mine?! I read the letter. It stated:

Dear Alexis,
Yes, I am yours. I am a 5 year old black gelding named Magic Moon. The mark on my face looks just like one. Come to the stable to see me. I’ll be waiting!
Love,
Moon

I didn’t realize until then that I had been crying. I ran up to my parents and gave them both a hug still screaming and sobbing. I ran upstairs, put on my20breeches, boots, and grabbed my helmet. "LETS GO!" I screamed. My mom took me to the stables, and I walked to his stall beaming. I looked in and couldn’t believe my eyes. This beauty was mine.
