Somethings Missing

Lying there on the ground feeling the wet tears roll down my red face, I looked around the pitch black forest. He left. How could someone do something like this? I looked down at my frightened little horse lying there as if she was whimpering on the hard cold ground. The gash made by the bullet was gushing badly. I put my hand on the soggy wound. When I lifted it up it was covered in sticky red blood. I thought to myself I must stop the bleeding. I tore the leg off of my mud covered blue jeans and tied it over the wound. I thought about what happened. We were taking a night ride and we heard a gun shot. The bullet went right into my horses neck and she quickly collapsed. When I fell my phone broke so I couldn't call for help. I layed my head on my horse's neck and soon drifted off to sleep as white powdery snow covered us.
I woke up in my bed was it just a dream? I quickly put on my boots and hurriedly rushed out the door. I ran to the big red horse barn. I walked in to her empty stall and stared. I soon collapsed to my knees and barried my face in my hands and bawled. Something was missing, a pet, my best friend.
