Annika Jasper mounted her bay pony named Cody. She looked at her best friends Baily Allison and Ashleigh Griffen. Baily had a beautiful Appaloosa pony named Lilly of the Valley. Ashleigh had a wonderful liver chestnut pony named Jagger.
 "Ready to ride?" asked Ashleigh.
"I was born ready!!" Baily said cheerfully.
As they rode on the trail Baily asked, "Hey I heard there is a really cool meadow called Mount Meadow and it’s a perfect place for us to have a picnic!!" Baily said.
 "Well ok if its ok with Ash" Annika said looking at Ashleigh.
 "W-well i-i-is'nt there alot of c-c-cougars there" Ashleigh said.
 "Ha! Dont be silly!!" Baily said
 "Well ok then. We’ll meet at the Jasper Breeding Farm at 11:00" Ashleigh said.
The very next morning Annika went to go see Cody. "Oh Cody!! You'll be my pony FOREVER!!" she said. At 10:58 Annika groomed Cody and got the tack from the tack room. 4 minutes later the 3 girls were ready to ride.
"Oh! Its a beautiful day for riding!!" Annika said cheerfully.
The girls ate and did relay races. Then this terrible heartbreaking thing happened. The girls were playing Frisbee while riding their ponies. Baily threw the Frisbee to Annika. It sailed over her head. "I’ll get it!!" Annika said. She directed her horse in a walk.
All a sudden a cougar jumped out. Cody bucked Annika off.
Annika screamed. "Cody!!! NOOOO!!" she screamed, “AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” to scare the cougar. The cougar ran away.
"Cody!!!" she screamed. Cody was down.
Annika's friends came galloping towards her."Is Cody ok? Is he alive?" Ashleigh asked.
Annika could barley talk. Ashleigh called the vet, Annika's parents.
"I can’t save him,” the vet said shaking his head.
Annika burst into tears. That night she wrote in her diary:

Dear Diary,
We buried Cody today. My little brother cried.i didn't cry. I felt there was a big hole in my chest. I don’t know if i want another pony. I’m going to call my friends and invite them over to have a barn sleep over.

The next day was Anoka’s birthday. There was a note by her sleeping bag that said:
Annika-we are at Olsens horse sale. Breakfast on counter.

"Yum!! blueberry muffins!" Ashleigh and Baily said together.
One hour later Annika's parents came back. Annika had made invitations to her birthday last week. The party started. Annika opened her presents she got a horse book, a necklace shaped like a horseshoe with diamonds in it, a teal bridle with a matching saddle stirrups and halter and reins, and much much more.
“Now your dad and I bought you something too" said Annika's mother.
They went out to the barn and Annika found a pony that looked EXACTLY like Cody. Annika patted him. He acted EXACTLY like Cody.
“I’m going to name you Cody" Annika said. She thanked her parents.
It was like Cody put his soul in the new Cody.
