I galloped through the trees. The sun shining on my dark bay coat. I was searching for my herd. But humans are chasing me. I looked back. Gone. The humans lost me. I trotted into a nearby river. The cool water felt good on my sweaty body. Still breathing heavy, I slowly walked out of the river. I knew that the humans will come this way soon. But I still just walked down the path. After a while I cut across the woods to a grassy meadow. There was no sign of the humans so I grazed, wishing that my herd was there. The lead stallion, Prince, would protect us from the humans. Prince would make me stick with his herd. But during a storm I was separated from my herd. I sighed lifting my head to look around. I smelled horses. And leather. My heart raced. I paced nervously. I heard a sound. I whipped around trying to see what it was. I saw humans on top of horses riding at a full speed gallop towards me. “Get her!” yelled one of the humans. I have a name I whinnied. It was Faith. The humans ignored me, but a horse neighed back. Suddenly I felt a rope tighten around my neck. “NO!!!!!!!!!!” I cried. But it was too late. I was caught.

Slam! The metal door slammed behind me. I thought about my fight to try to escape the ropes and run away from the terrible humans. It took all the humans to get me in this huge metal thingy. Even the mini human. I remember the fight I had just fought. And lost. It all started after the humans caught me. I reared, yanking at all the ropes. The humans yelled at me. Then I saw the mini human. She had long hair, longer than the other bigger humans. I tried to run towards her but the big humans yanked me back. After that I and the humans played a mini game of tug o war. After that though the humans coaxed me by the metal thingy, with an apple. But all the humans had to push me up the ramp and into the metal thingy. I looked at the mare next to me. “What’s your name? Where do you come from?” I asked the mare. The mare’s snow white coat was brushed neatly. The mare looked back at me. “I have two names. My mother named me Whitelight. But the humans named me White Silk. I was born at the farm we are going to.” replied the mare. “Do you want me to call you Whitelight?” I asked. “Yes. I hate the name White Silk. They always call me Silk.” said Whitelight.

Finally the metal thingy stopped. The humans walked in. They took out the other horse in the metal thingy first. While they led the horse out, the mini human walked in. “How was the ride Silk?” she exclaimed, stroking Whitelight’s neck. Whitelight nudged the mini human. Then the mini human turned to me. “Hello! I’m Sarah. And Daddy said you can be my horse. I’m going to name you Fudge Girl. But I’ll call you Fudge.” Sarah said. A big human walked up. “Sarah, you take Silk. Your mother and I will take the wild one.” said the big human. Next to the big human was another big human that looked like Sarah. “Her name is Fudge” Sarah said. The two big humans walked towards me. Sarah untied Whitelight’s rope and backed her out of the metal thingy. Next the big humans untied my rope. I didn’t need to be told what to do. I backed out of the metal thingy. Sarah ran up to me. “You are such a smart horse!” she cried. I looked around I spotted Whitelight grazing by some other horses. I yanked the rope out of the big human’s hand and ran towards the horses. I was so close and then BAM! There was a fence in my way! Whitelight laughed. “Faith! Sarah will put you in here.” she cried. A chestnut mare grazed beside Whitelight. I whinnied. I thrashed towards the fence, throwing myself into the wood. “Fudge stop it!” demanded Sarah. I ignored Sarah and reared. “Mommy! Get her! Get her!” wailed Sarah. “Faith stop it you’ll hurt yourself.” cried Whitelight.  I whirled around and looked at Whitelight. “Go to freedom. Go fast.”  I said. Whitelight and the chestnut ran away. I was about to join them when I fell over the fence and everything went black.

I groaned and opened my eyes. “It’s a break.” said a human voice. I looked around. A human in a long white coat was looking at my leg. I screeched and tried to stand. “No girl.” said the human in the white coat. “Don’t get up.” I looked at the man. Kindness was in his brown eyes. I nickered. I moved my leg and a shot of pain shot up my leg and spread across my big body. “Well she won’t be any good. Here’s your money. Put her down. She made me lose my daughter ‘s Arabian and my prize mare.” said the man who had caught me. Sarah nodded. Then Sarah and the guy who caught me left. “Hello girl. You’re a pretty girl aren’t you? I’m Mike.” soothed the white coat man. I studied Mike. “You know, the break isn’t a bad break. You could pull through. I’m keeping faith in you girl.” He added. Mike knows my name! I whinnied. “You like that word? Faith? Is your name Faith?” Mike asked. I nickered happily. “Well Faith, I have more horses to examine. I’ll be back during my lunch break.” said Mike and the only human I knew in this weird place left me.

I heard footsteps coming towards me. I lifted my head but soon put it down as the pain was terrible. A door creaked open and Mike appeared. I whinnied happily. “You’re in a lot pain aren’t you girl?” Mike asked. He held up a needle. I screeched. Mike poked onto to my skin. I shut my eyes. “There you go.” Mike whispered. I opened my eyes and lifted my head. The pain wasn’t as bad as it had been. I nickered. Suddenly another human walked over to me. She looked just like Sarah but much taller. I wanted to get out here just in case it was Sarah. But I didn’t move. “How is she Mike?” the other human asked. “She looks good Laura.” Mike replied. Laura. I thought. That must be the other human. Mike walked up and opened my mouth. I squirmed for it felt uncomfortable. Soon though, he let go of my lip and walked back over to Laura. “The poor horse is only two years old according to her teeth.” Mike told her. How did he know how old I am? “When are you going to perform the operation?” Laura asked. “In a couple of minutes. Here, hold her while I sedate her.” Mike ordered. Mike got a needle again but this time I stayed calm. Soon I began getting sleepy, and soon I fell fast asleep.

I woke up and noticed I had a cast on my leg. I stretched painfully and looked around. I was no longer in the small wooden area I had been in a little while ago, instead I was laying on a cold metal table thingy. Mike was walked in the room and saw that I was awake. “Hello, girl.” He said. Mike looked at my leg and smiled. “You’re going to be okay Faith, you are going to be okay.” Mike cried happily. That must have meant that something good happened so I whinnied. Mike laughed. “And I have the perfect home for you Faith.” Mike said. Home? My home was with my herd, in the wild. “Would like to live out on my farm?” Mike asked. I nickered. Yeah, this farm thingy probably wasn’t the wild, but if there’s Mike and other horses there I guess it might be okay. Cause home is where the heart is, and right now my home will be a farm.
