Age 11

(read parts one and two here)

This is if you have not read Jenny and Moonlight#2 the last part. Enjoy!

Jenny and Moonlight headed toward the last jump-- but as they jumped, Moonlight’s foot caught and she fell to the ground. Jenny had fallen off and luckily was not hurt. Moonlight was not hurt either, but refused to try again and here is where the story returns:
“Oh, Moonlight! I’m so sorry! I would never have made you jump if I had known this would happen!’’ Jenny wailed as a big tear dropped on Moonlight’s coat.
Jenny brushed Moonlight and let her out in the field, then walked slowly to the house. As she entered, her mother asked in alarm, “What is the matter, dear?’’
Jenny poured out her story.
“Are you OK?’’ asked her mother.
“Yes.’’ Jenny answered. “But I think Moonlight might be hurt inside.”
“What do you mean?’’ asked her mom.
“Well, I think she thinks I let her down--so that hurt her inside, in her heart.”
“I think see I see what you mean,’’ said her mom, “but just to make sure we should let the vet look at her. OK?’’
“OK.” agreed Jenny.

Missing!

The next day, Jenny went to the field and called “Moonlight!’’   Moonbeam came trotting up to the fence.
“Where is Moonlight, Moonbeam?’’ asked Jenny.
Jenny walked into the field and looked around. Fear gripped her. Moonlight was gone!
“OH NO!’’ Jenny cried she ran to the corner of the field.  The fence had been broken down! Thoughts swirled in her head. “Had Moonlight run away? Had she been stolen? Could she be hurt?”

To be continued…
