“And it’s Skyline in the lead with Blue jack catching up from behind!”
My lean, strong hooves pounded on the soft sandy dirt. My long, strong black legs worked for the glory. My rider Taylor had started racing me when I was two. She was good to me, never whipping me and I always saw her everyday. I am a blood black stallion my name is skyline and this is my story of how I won the Triple Crown and the hearts of millions.
I was born on the 25 of May in 2007. I stood up as soon as I was born and the next day was galloping in the paddock. I was fast, like really fast. They started working with me when I was a yearling. I was quick to learn and soon was on the racetrack racing the other horses were a lot of fun and I won almost as easy I who’d have with no other horses. It was warm day when they loaded me into the trailer and to Kentucky. We ran for a little bit on the track when we got there and then I was put in a large stall and given hay, grain and water. After I had eaten I closed my eyes and dreamed about a magical horse world.
The next thing I knew I was being groomed to a shine and having my tack cleaned. They put the saddle on me and the bridle. Taylor jumped on and we went to the starting gate. As soon as the bell rang I shoot out and was in the lead. The other horses galloping behind me were far away and I new I would win. And I did. I won the next race and finally I was racing in the Triple Crown. We had run on the track the night before and I had got lots of food and sleep. The next morning I was groomed and saddled up. I was led to the starting gate and was shut in. The bell chimed and I shot out like a bullet. I ran for everything I had. Hitting the dirt with my hard black hooves. Now I could see the finish line I crossed the line and won!
Taylor jumped off and hugged me. We walked to the finish line and got a picture and flowers and money. I was put out to a paddock that night and got lots of feed. I had three foals and raced ten more times. I never lost or broke my leg. I am owned by Taylor ’s little girl and still race today. I have a good life and a wonderful owner.
