This story is in the eyes of the horse named Talc. The story starts when he is about 7 weeks old.

I opened my eyes and felt a rough tongue licking my back. I looked up to see my mom grazing a little ways off. Who was licking my back then?
"Mom?"
She looked up and walked over.
"Don't worry young one. It's only a stary cat."
She nipped at the lump of black fur that sat on my back. It jumped off and disappeared into the tall, meadow grass.
"Time to go."
My mother said as she nudged me to my hooves.
"Where?"
"To the herd. It's almost time for the humans to gather us."
Humans. My mother told me a lot about them. They named her Diamond, they trained her, took her to strange places. She said that they wuld name me too. I wondered what my name will be.
"Who will be my human?"
I asked as we trotted through the grass.
"I'm not sure. It will be whoever picks you."
We trotted in silence for an hour. Then I saw a whole bunch of horses in the valley below.
"We're here."
Diamond said and then led me to the herd.

"Diamond!"
The heads of the horses looked up as a bay mare cantered over to my mom.
"Nice to see you again after a few weeks, Ruby."
My mom said as the mare stopped in front of us.
"Who's colt is this?"
"Topaz sired him."
"He looks great. Nice and strong with a coat close to yours. I wonder who will pick him."
Then they walked off chatting. They left me standing there, alone.
"Hi there!"
I turned around to see 3 foals trotting towards me.
"Hi."
The grey filly said.
"Hi."
I said shyly.
"I can't wait until we get our names!!"
The black colt said, cantering circles around us. The copper filly and the grey filly joined him. Then I started to canter beside them.
"The humans are here!"
A black stallion bellowed to the herd. I wonder if he was the lead stallion.

The mares went to their foals as more horses arrived, carrying furless creatures. I stayed close to my mother's side.
"Hello Topaz."
A golden stallion walked over to my mother.
"Nice to see you well Diamond. Is this our son?"
"Yes. Isn't he handsome?"
Then the horses holding the strange creatures started to circle around us. They formed an oval. 2 horse up front, 2 horses on each side, and 2 horses at the back. Each carried the strange, furless creature. Up close I could see that they were a strange pinkish or tanish color.
"Look! This is just perfect! Four foals for the four kids back at the ranch."
"Yeah. That is perfect."
We cantered across open land for about half an hour. I had to gallop with the other foals to keep up with the cantering adults. Then we reach a series of mazes full of paddocks. Most were empty but some had horses in them. Some even had these white, fluffy creatures. And some had furless, pink creatures with black hooves. Then the horses sorted us out. Mares and their foals were put into one paddock and the stallions in the other. The creatures, I figured out they were humans, got off their horses and leaned against the wood. There was some commotion from this big wooden building.
"Looks like the kids realized we're here."
The taller human with grey hair said. Then 4 smaller humans ran out of the building. The other foals and I were put into a seperate paddock, away from our mothers.
"Dibs on the white one!"
The blonde girl said. She walked over to me and gave me a hug. I stood perfectly still, trying not to scare her away.
"Hi. I'm Gwen. You're gonna be my horse from now on."
The other humans picked out Their horses and then started to give them names.
"I'll name this one Onyx."
Zach said, staring off into space.
"This is Opal."
Jamie said stroking Opal's mane.
"Copper. For her copper coat."
Emily said running her fingers through Copper's mane.
"Mine will be Talc. Because he is such a sweetheart."
I could alost promise you that I was blushing.

Wow! I finally had a name! And an awesome name as a matter of fact. I trotted over to the other foals.
"We have such great names."
Opal said, her eyes sparkling. Onyx walked over to em and whispered into my ear. I nodded and then walked over to a patch of grass.
"Hey girls! watch this!"
Onyx said and then started to roll around in the mud. I rolled around in the grass.
"Eeeeewwww!!"
Opal whinnied.
"They are colts."
Copper pointed out. When we got up Onyx was caked in mud and I was, well, very green. Then we all lied down and looked up at the stars. And I drifted off to sleep.
