Everything Changes

A 14-year-old girl with long blond hair sits by an empty stall, tears running down her rosy red cheeks. At the end of the aisle, a dapple-gray pony is led out into the rain. Another horse is walked into the empty stall by a familiar face, but still not a word is spoken though it all. The stall door shuts, making a loud noise that thunders throughout the barn as the rain outside rages on.

The girl hears the door on the trailer slam shut and she cries harder as the rain begins to pour down in bucket loads. The metal trailer clangs up the driveway. There is nothing that can stop them now. They pull out on to the road and the girl hears the distant, yet familiar, whinny of her beloved pony, Ritchie, on his way to his new home. His new owner will love him as much as she does.

The new horse in the stall is uneasy and trying to figure out where he is. The girl enters the stall to comfort the frightened horse. She pets his face and gives him a carrot. He nuzzles her and she realizes it'll be OK.
