Club Pony Pals News

Dear Pony Pals

Your new profile page now appears when you sign on to Club Pony Pals! On your new page you can enter your profile so that other members can read something about you. Write whatever you want others to see, like if you ride in real life, if you want a pony but don't have one YET, what country and province or state you live in, what pets you have, your favorite colors, what you like in school or pretty much anything other pony pals might want to know.

As so many new members come on line, it takes our admin staff a few minutes to read your profile text before we can post it. Every profile is approved before it appears.

Then check out our other links on your new personal home page. You may have gifts waiting! Send your friends a card or other gift. Search through their pal list. Then see who their friends' friends are. It's really fun and if you see a profile of someone you want to get to know, send them a card from our gift catalog as a way to say "hello!"

We have winners for our July story contest. With 56 entries in five categories, there is a lot of great reading available there. Winners get 2500 Wiggins bucks, 1000 Wiggins bucks to each of the runners up

To Mrs. Crandal , I am a mother to a little girl, who is in LOVE with horses, I have searched high and low for a game like the one you have made. My husband and I think its a wonderful game, especially the grooming part ! My daughter loves that. We have bought her extra wiggins bucks. As a mother I am very careful what I let her play and I have no worries with this game. Its fun and easy for her to play. We were hoping that there would be more because we've gone as far as we can on the game but she told me the game is new and more would be coming. She is very excited and wants to play this all day! Its hard to get her off. I will be glad to spread the word to my friends so that their kids can enjoy this game. Thank you for creating a quality, safe, and fun game for my daughter to play. We look forward to the expansion of your development.
Tianastars Mom.

Club Pony Pals Forum Posts of the Week
Kinz & Dusty writes

Hey Mrs. C! In a few months, we want to wait till winters over so I will have time to work, we will be looking for our first horse! I have a friend who rides western that is willing to help me look and train if needed but I want to jump and I am the only one that I know who does that. I know several people willing to help me look but nobody who can come out and look at a horse with me. I know about what kind of horse I want and out price range I have found a few that would work in both places. I have already had a few friends ask me to give lessons that have never ridden before so I'm happy my friends are willing to try (although my cousin is very mad at me for it. I have been riding for 3 years on friend's horses and lesson horses I can w/t/c in english and jump about 2' and w/t/c/g western as well as groom and tack up alone, during a camp we also learned all the vital signs and how to check them and can do join up and lounge and free lounge as well as a lot of ground work games. So I am really experienced with horses but I'm terrified I'll make a mistake picking out the horse or trying to train it since I will pretty much be on my own. I plan on getting one trained to jump or started and finish the jumping training. I am trying to help out my parents as much as possible since they have willingly agreed to boarding at a stable 5 mins away from home and to give a decent amount of money, my b-day and christmas gifts the past 2 years have always resulted in a minimum of $25 gift cards to the tractor store which sells halters, leads, lounge things, grooming things and boot/wraps. I also plan on saving money to buy saddle pads and a new bit since i already have a saddle and bridle that a local tack shop will do repairs on, to make it fit the horse. but before when i was riding the owner or barn manager was there so if something felt or seemed wrong they were there to take care of it, but now i'll have to deal with it on my own! I am super excited because it will be a horse i can ride whenever rather then once a week lessons during the fall and spring only. But i'm also worried i know how to take care of a horse but worried that once something happens i know i can't tell the owner and have them look and see what's wrong but this will be my baby which will worry me. I don't know which one takes over more the feeling that i'll have my own horse and won't be riding lesson ponies and can finally go on trails on my own horse rather then a horse sitting in the field that's not really used, or the feeling that it will be me not a friend responsible for this horse 24/7 not just while i'm there. help! do you have any advice?

Jand Crandal writes

You need a herd! Of other humans, that is. Rather than try and go it alone on all these big questions, start looking for buddies and pals now so you have a support network when choice time rolls around.

Horses and ponies always herd up. We should too.

How abut 4H? Is there a 4H horse program active where you are. Pony Club?

Any horse or pony you decide to buy should be checked out by a vet in a pre purchase exam. For behaviors, it would help if you have some friends who also are loony over horses (joke) and are as intent as you are on getting the right horse together with you.

If your folks are not naturally horse people, start talking with them now about what you would like from them in terms of emotional and moral support. And what their time budget looks like week to week.

You should also get a basic veterinary book, one out of print book Amazon sometimes has is "How to be your Own Vet...Sometimes."

It has a lot real basic stuff in it.

So start casting about for experienced, reliable chums who like horses and have no agenda other than just wanting to see another happy horse/human pair go ambling along companionably.

Have a talk with the stable operator where you plan to keep your horse. See what they are all about. Some are really engaged, others are not so much. Use your common sense and built in radar.

So, pick your western riding friend's brain and good nature as much as you are able, absorb as much general advice as you can. Horses are horses. My little cutting mare who was a demon on cattle really in her heart loved to....jump!

Start looking around for anyone at all who does jump. You will end up needing someone to spot you anyway when you do.

This is the start of a long-ish conversation, look for your note in the Wiggins Weekly, I think a lot of our members are in the same paddock as you and will appreciate your concerns.

Pony Pal Thoughts for the Day

She that speaks ill of another, commonly, before she is aware,
makes herself such a one as she speaks against;
for if she had civility or breeding,
she would forbear such kind of language.
