Ginger My Horse by Hannah7798
I am going to tell you about my first horse. I got her because i really wanted a horse and i was doing good in school. So one of are mail ladies had a horse and wanted to get rid of her, so we took her up on her offer.
The next day we got our horse trailer and hooked it up to our truck. It took about an hour to get there and get back. When we got back we put her out in the pasture to graze and let her know that that is where she will be until she dies or until we have to sell her.
Her name is Ginger she is a dark dark chocolate brown almost black. She is an American Quarter Horse. She has a bad leg but that is only because she has a calcium deposit. She got it from being a hiking horse for trails. When our farrier does her feet she does this new cut she learned. It helps her but it hurts her for a few days. She is still able to ride though. She will not let men or boys handle her.
When she lived with our mail lady she jumped the fence about 2 or 3 times because there was a boy horse across the street. She only did that because she was in season. She is 27 years old and is retired. She is halter broke and saddle broke.
Right now we have her down at our grandparents house because we are trying to let the grass grow back out in the pasture. She is not down there by herself. He has 6 horses of his own.She has a friend in the pasture with her.Her name is Joy and she is my sister's Shetland Pony. She is halter broke and saddle broke too.She is also trained to pull a cart.I personally think she is the best horse in the world. That is my opinion but some people has different opinions about her.
We take care of our animals but some people don't.
For example one day as we were driving down the road this dude had barbwire in his field and somehow one of the horses got into it and got it stuck in his mane and tail.So every time he tried to itch with his back hoof he scratched his self and the other horse's hooves had not been trimmed in awhile so they looked like webbed feet.I hate people who do that.I mean that is just animal cruelty. We stopped and helped the horse.I not talking about that i am talking about my horse. She might look and act mean sometimes but underneath all of that she is a big heaping helping of love.
