As Amy Haas woke up on a warm Saturday morning, she was debating on when to get up when she realized today was the day her father said they could go look at horses but he also said they could not afford one. She bolted upright and jumped out of bed. Just as she pulled on her jeans and had washed her face with cold water to wake herself up, her dog Red came in wagging his tail and she saw he had her boot! After she had chased him down and got her boot back she walked downstairs to eat a breakfast of toast and cereal. After she had shoved everything down her throat and had fed Red she got outside and breathed a deep breath of fresh air. Her father met her at the car and they got inside and drove off. She had written down a list of addresses with the horses name on it. The other day she had scheduled a bunch of meeting with the owners and today they had said they could come and look.

As they pulled into the driveway of the first house a rather chubby woman came out and introduced her self and Mrs. Piggles. It was hard for Amy to hold in shakes of laughter as they walked down to a paddock to see her horse. After Amy had gotten a good look at Mrs. Piggles horse she thought it wasn't a good choice because the horse was almost as small and fat as Mrs. Piggle herself! The next horse was the exact opposite! It was as thin as a twig when they got up to it. Amy felt bad for the horse but she didn't want to spend money on it and then not be able to ride when she still had to pay to feed it. After that her dad took her for a scoop of ice-cream. When they sat down Amy picked up the new paper and looked in the ads for horses. Thats when she saw it!!

GREY COB! FREE TO GOOD HOME!
Good gelding I just can't keep him anymore and would only give him to a good home.

Amy shoved the paper in her fathers face and almost shouted "Dad!!! Look a horse free to a good home!!!! Her father took the paper and read the ad then smiled and said she could call the owner on his cell-phone. After talking for what seemed forever the woman agreed to let her come and see her horse. When the drove up to the house Amy's jaw dropped open at the size of the house. It was HUGE!!!! And the property wasn't bad either. There was green pasture after green pasture, and the barn was at least two stories tall!!!! A tall woman came out and the smile on her face was a warm and welcoming one. As she introduced her self they walking into the barn. Her name was Ashley Winston. Her horse was all groomed and tacked up when they got there. Ashley waited while Amy ran her hand over the horse.

"His name is Ice, would you like to test ride him?" Ashley asked.
"Oh, yes yes I would! Thanks!" said an excited Amy. As she mounted Ashley gave her a helmet.
"Better to be safe than sorry." Any nodded and the helmet slipped forward and she had to push it back and adjust the strap. After walking, trotting and cantering him a little Amy told her father in and over excited voice
"Dad I think he has a smooth gate and nice posture. Plus he is for free." her father just smiled and patted Ice's shoulder saying
"Yea I guess he is." Amy smiled back and said "He’s my gift horse."

         And that’s the End!
